As I try to work more reviews into my content, I thought this would be an easy read for the skincare curious. Masks are often included in the PR I receive from beauty brands. Because they don’t stay on your face like serums or exfoliants, I can test these more regularly than other skincare products! Please feel free to use this as an excuse in the name of self-care to mask with me every week. 😉
I’ll admit I didn’t entirely think this through during the inception. As you may have noticed, this post is NOT published on a Monday. However, I did poll my audience on stories for which mask to try and applied the top choice on Monday night. Going forward, I’ll make sure to do this on SUNDAYS and share my thoughts the NEXT day. We live and we learn- haha!
Now, let’s get down to it.
Paula’s Choice Enriched Calm Toner
Paula’s Choice 2% BHA exfoliant
Indie Lee Co Q10 Toner (use TOMI15 for 15% off)
Kiehl’s Avocado Nourishing Hydration Mask
Indie Lee Co Q10 Toner (use TOMI15 for 15% off)
Indie Lee Squalane Oil (use TOMI15 for 15% off)
I received this avocado mask from Kiehl’s recently to test out with no obligation to post. At a quick glance, it looks great! Towards the top of the ingredients list, you’ll notice glycerin for hydration, and of course, avocado extracts. Avocado oil is one of the best emollient ingredients. An emollient is an ingredient (usually found in products like facial oils or moisturizers) that helps to trap moisture into the skin. The full list shows that it was created for all skin types, too. If you’d like to learn more about which moisturizers are best for you, read my post here.
My skincare routine is a bit longer than average already, so adding a mask needs to be a quick process. If you’re looking for something to use multiple times a week, this might not be for you. Unlike most masks where you can simply scoop it out and apply it, this requires a bit more work. It can get a little clumpy without working it in your hands before adding it to your face. Visibly, I felt like it had the opposite effect after washing it off! My skin looked a little dryer than I would’ve liked considering the product’s main purpose.
HOWEVER, I continued with the rest of my routine for the night and could already tell my skin felt smoother. I used my go-to exfoliant and I think the additional hydration from the mask helped work its magic. The next day I woke up and noticed a significant reduction in the “congestion” on my chin and nose area. And my skin still felt just as smooth as the night before!
I only left the mask on for 10 minutes instead of 15 because it was my first time trying it. I did a patch test earlier on my skin but didn’t want to take any chances in case of a bad reaction. If I try it again, I imagine that the longer it’s on my skin (within reason), the better the effects. It would also be helpful if the mask came with some kind of scoop to get out the desired amount of product. All in all, it’s not a favorite or an automatic toss, but definitely an option for those who are already a fan of Kiehl’s products as a whole!
Have you tried out Kiehl’s avocado mask? If you liked this review, please let me know! As this was my first “Mask Monday” I’m open to feedback or any questions you might have to make this as helpful as possible!
