This wasn’t my first time in Charleston and it definitely won’t be my last! With a drive that’s just over 3 hours, it’s the perfect getaway from Charlotte. A lot of free sights to see, tasty food, amazing shopping, AND there’s a beach?! If the airport was bigger it would probably be on my list of cities to move to ASAP. Summer isn’t necessarily the best time to visit Charleston because of how hot it can be, but it looks like we got there just in time! I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend.
Because Nicole and I were there for such a short period of time for work we hardly had time to check out new things. However, I’ve shared our itinerary below if you’re planning your upcoming trip to CHS! Also, my strong suggestion is to book everything from hotels to experiences to food reservations for 3-4 weeks out minimum. Charleston has always been a reservation town but add in covid restrictions and travel opening back up and it can make things even more limited!

When most people are looking to book a trip to Charleston they want walking distance to the King Street area downtown. The apartment building is only a 5-minute drive but about 20 minutes on foot to the main hub of The Holy City. And if it’s in the summer, that’s just not the best option if you want to look presentable at your next destination. It wasn’t necessarily the most convenient place to stay, but I’d still highly suggest it!
It was 2 bedrooms with a nice sized bathroom, full kitchen, living room, and had a laundry unit. While the outside looked a bit older they have definitely renovated the interior within the last 2-3 years. There are plenty of cafes to walk to for a quick bite to eat, too! Pro tip: Because it is an older building, you might want to be careful when it comes to smoke (cooking, vape, etc.). Nicole and I were steaming our dresses for an early morning photo shoot and the alarm went off for the ENTIRE BUILDING. The firefighters were pretty cute, though! 😉
It wasn’t the best food I’ve ever had but great location downtown! The menu has a little bit of everything for everyone. The prices make sense because of where it is in Charleston, but I’d probably opt for another restaurant over this because the ambiance inside just wasn’t for me.
Great for smaller bites when you don’t have as much time to wait on a table!
SO, so good. The warm crab bruschetta was the best $18 I’ve ever spent. We drove and had an earlier reservation time, but I’d suggest taking an Uber because parking was limited!
The french toast was UNREAL. Highly recommend! It has the cutest patio vibes and a lot of top-rated restaurants in the area if this one is booked.
