I’m partnering with Olay for this sponsored post. As always, opinions are my own.
I’ve been all about sharing what’s working for me with my skincare routine since I’ve started my blog. And I love the little skincare community we’ve built from trying new products together! After the positive feedback from my travel skincare favorites, I knew I had to write about the magic that is Olay Regenerist Retinol24 collection. But, we’ll get to that in a second!
Again, let me start off by stating that everyone’s skin is different, therefore not everything will work the same from person to person. My top concerns when it comes to skincare are dark spots, skin texture (congestion in my nose and chin area) and creating a routine that retains my youthful glow for the future! And retinol is the key to making those things happen.
Retinol in nature is a derivative of Vitamin A that’s found in foods like oily fish and leafy greens. The retinol found in your beauty routines is topical creams or ointments geared toward maintaining healthy skin. There’s a large umbrella of terms that include retinol, but certain ones (like Retin-A or tretinoin) might require a pricey trip to your local dermatologist. Research your products and you’ll find over the counter retinoids can work just as well.
You can try it in multiple ways! The collection has a variety of options like moisturizers, serums, and eye creams. For the past 4 weeks, I’ve used the Retinol24 serum 4-5x a week and it’s already becoming a personal fave. Serums allow more highly concentrated products to be applied to the skin. After cleansing your face at night, apply the serum to your face and neck and follow up with a hydrating moisturizer to lock all of the ingredients in!
Are you ready for this? Besides staying hydrated and applying sunscreen daily, adding retinol is probably the BEST thing you could do for your skin. According to this dermatologist, it can reduce and eliminate dark spots and redness while speeding up your cell turnover rate. Basically, it’s the fountain of youth in a jar. Let the church say, AMEN! These are unretouched before and after photos of my face with the retinol products. In just 4 weeks, I’m already seeing a difference in dark spots and overall glow!
Some shy away from retinol because they see it can cause peeling or dry skin, but all of the new baby soft skin is waiting underneath! I suggest easing it into your routine. DON’T add multiple new items at once (this goes for any type of skincare product). Regardless of the time, you apply retinol (most suggest nighttime), ALWAYS use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or greater during the day. All of the skin stimulation can make it more sensitive to sunlight and UV rays. You’ll also want to time out any type of facial waxes for the same reasons. Avoid using it for 1-2 days beforehand and you’ll be just fine.
Have you added retinol in your skincare routine yet? I’d love to know your thoughts! Get your Retinol24 products here!
