One of the biggest hurdles to face in the creative industry is writer’s block. Have you ever sat at your desk, twiddling your thumbs just wondering what to post next? It’s easy to fall into the same habits for your content ideas and before you know it, you’re all out of inspiration. With a multitude of social media apps available, your audience can pivot to other creatives or brands for entertainment. How can you keep their attention if you struggle to come up with something new?!
Determining the reason behind your content can help motivate you on the days you need the extra push! Do you produce videos that highlight underrepresented communities? Do you love inspiring young women to feel healthier through food and fitness? When do you feel happiest creating content? Try and replicate that WHY with everything you do!
It took me years to develop a strong content calendar. It’s something I’m still working on! A social media content calendar helps you stay organized on what to post when to post, and where to share your content. Instead of random ideas living in your notes app, try adding them to a Google Calendar with a strict publishing date!
Your brand doesn’t need to be one set idea. As someone with a few niches up my sleeve, I’m hardly telling you to focus on a single interest. However, it’s important that the overall messaging is the same. If you need help determining what your brand is, ask your audience to describe your content in 3 words!
With a content calendar, clear brand messaging, and your why in place, you’re almost ready to go. But there are 3 things to think about when planning out your posts. All of these questions will more than likely result in more saves/shares in your posts! So, 1- it will help your platform grow. But 2- it will allow you to know what type of posts are the most helpful for your audience!
Now that you know what your brand is and the type of posts you can create, let’s post! These ideas work for Instagram, Youtube, TikToks, Blog posts- you name it!
These are just a few examples you can use for content inspo. In my full social media calendar, I’ve provided the top holidays for each month with space for you to add your own notes! There’s no need to be caught off guard the next time one pops up on your feed. And who has time to spend hours researching which day is coming up next?
