This post is in partnership with Desenio. As always, all opinions are my own!
When it comes to home decor, I struggle with making snap decisions. I feel like there’s a finality that comes with setting up your place and I don’t want to make a mistake! As someone who works from home, it’s even more important for me to enjoy the space. During college, I quickly learned that furniture prices were no joke. I decided I wouldn’t invest in anything besides the basics until I had complete control.
2 years ago, I had just moved into my apartment in Greenville, South Carolina for grad school. It was my first time living alone and I loved the creative process of developing my own aesthetic! Since I barely had anything besides a bed and side table, I was starting from scratch. After a couple of months deliberating on what I’d go for, I settled on this luxe, feminine vibe. You can see how much I love this color palette- it’s the same as my wedding! But soon, I realized I needed to update the space to be a bit more inclusive of my new roommate. ;)
Trying to find an aesthetic we both loved was a challenge, but I’m grateful Will left it up to me! I decided to browse Desenio’s website because I know they have a huge selection of prints. The best part is that they offer quality options and frames without breaking the bank! How did I finally settle on what to get? Here’s what I did:
I searched for Desenio’s website for inspiration. They had a few gallery wall templates for small, medium, and large spaces. Next, I searched their gallery wall section to see if they already had a few prints that I liked paired together- and they did! In order to figure out how I wanted it arranged in my living room, I created a virtual gallery wall. Removing the old artwork, I snapped a photo of my space with a blank wall. Then, I screenshotted each print and uploaded it to Canva (a free photoshop service) and brought my vision to life. I selected the frames, moved them around the wall, and settled on what we see now!
When measuring the space above your couch or desired area, don’t forget to keep in mind the space needed in between each item. I think 2 -4 inches is a good rule of thumb. The dimensions of each print are below for reference! After searching through multiple posts online, I realized this was always something missing. The sizes are recorded in centimeters, but it offers inches on the website too. In order to make sure you have the right amount of frames, I suggest adding them to your cart right after each print.
My favorite print has to be personalized coordinates. It’s the location of Samford Hall, the iconic building on Auburn University’s campus. And it just happens to be where I met my husband. If I ever get tired of the artwork or the way it’s arranged, I can always switch it up since each piece is sent separately. I was concerned the gallery wall would make our apartment look smaller, but I love how it adds character! I’m already thinking of what I can create in our bedroom space. Of course, I’ll have to settle on an idea first, so I’ll see you in 2021.
I can’t link the prints through the widget below but did share some similar styles.
