I’ve been working on having a few more “mature” items in my closet this year. Attending a private, Christian school for 12 years does a lot to your psyche let me tell you. It’s taken a while for me to embrace showing and loving my body as opposed to constantly covering up. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Jesus but I love me some crop tops too lol. I’m happy to say that two-piece sets are here to stay and will be a permanent feature in my closet.
I’ve been blessed to never truly struggle with my weight and I’ve never been publicly shamed about my body. And yet, I would still find myself becoming insecure from time to time. When I was younger, I thought body confidence was reserved for those who could either flaunt the 6 pack abs or the Instagram-worthy curves. But what about the people in between?
Now I get that at a size 2, I’m hardly in between. But I did feel like I was stuck with an ultimatum of extremes. Add in the guilt that society already pushes on women to cover those pesky shoulders and pretend we don’t have belly buttons for the sake of men, it can become disheartening. I mean let’s be real people, you can be catcalled no matter what we wear. So we might as well have fun with it!
Once I got to college, it took me a while to be more confident in my own skin- which is funny because all I do now is share photos of myself ha. The one piece of advice that I have? Confidence comes with time. And giving off that confidence has to come from within and not from the shell that others can see. Rest in the fact that even those seemingly perfect celebrities on Instagram have insecurities from time to time. If you want to wear two-piece sets, crop tops, or any piece of clothing that makes you self-conscious, DO IT! Forget about the constant social media comparisons and focus on you. Stepping out of my comfort zone and having an outlet to express myself has made me love my body even more!
What’re you waiting for gorgeous? Celebrate and love your body for what it is today and every day. xx

Wow, that colour looks amazing on you!
The color of this two piece really compliments your skin – mustard and yellows look great on darker girls! :) And I completely agree with you on body confidence, it came with time to me too.
You are STUNNING, yellow is definitely your color! It makes me so happy when people find their confidence. I agree that it takes time for someone to be comfortable in their own skin, it certainly can force someone out of their comfort zone. But when people amazing things happen :) Keep it up girlie!
