Can you believe we’re in a new decade? Sheesh! 2020 sounds so futuristic! And yet, I’m still typing without my flying car and free healthcare. Tragic. After a few sluggish weeks towards the end of the year, I’m ready to get back at it. But I couldn’t get into new posts without sharing the most popular from 2019! The most viewed posts on my blog from last year covered race, travel, blogging, and love. If only the fashion industry was as diverse as my audience’s taste in content. BLOOP! All jokes aside, I’m happy to announce (in no particular order) the 10 most viewed blog posts on GoodTomiCha.com in 2019!
Why was a blog post I wrote 2 years ago the top post of 2019? It’s all thanks to the power of Pinterest and SEO! I shared my Pinterest tips in this blog post, but it consistently brings traffic every single day. Unlike beach vacations or mountain getaways, people are always traveling to New York City. Once I started getting lots of questions about suggestions of things to do in the city, I made sure to write a comprehensive blog post! If you’d like to pin it for your next trip to the big apple, you can do that here!
2019 was the year I learned that you guys really love blogging tips! The post with my highest views on Instagram and my blog confirm it. If you didn’t know, influencer networks are the middle man between major brands and content creators. Once you learn which ones are out there, it can be the start of your side-hustle (or even career) as an influencer! The post includes a full list of the ones I use consistently and examples of the brands I worked with on each platform.
If I wasn’t under the impression that you guys are here for the #WillContent beforehand, I am now! Just like with blogging tips, my highest performing posts happen to feature this new husband of mine. No complaints on my end. It helps me make the case for him to show his face around here a little more haha! My full list of wedding vendors and photos I haven’t shared with Instagram are linked in the post here.
One of my goals for 2020 is to share more about my culture. I loved getting the chance to provide a glimpse of what it means to be Nigerian and how we celebrate love! I’m trying to find the balance between fashion, travel, and education with the cultural aspect… so stay tuned! In the meantime, I’m working on posts centered around interracial and multicultural relationships for Valentine’s Day.
One of the biggest blessings from my career as a blogger have been the responses to this post. It resonated deeply with a lot of you going through the same issues. At the end of the day, women are freaking warriors. I’m SO glad that this was a top read in 2019! Because of the success of this post, I’ve been moved to share even more about my health on the blog soon in the hopes that it can encourage others.
We love a good roundup! I’ve since left the idea of a corporate lifestyle in the past. But that doesn’t mean I still can’t share my favorite workwear styles on the blog! My fall and winter business casual ideas are in this blog post. And if you’re already prepping for the summer months, I have some suggestions for you here!
This wasn’t my first time in Charleston and it will definitely not be my last. We had an amazing time (all 16 of us) and talk about it to this day! If you’re a future bride, I shared what I packed for my trip in this post. And shared a little more detail on all things, bridesmaids, in a dedicated blog post here. I know a lot of you are in the same age range as me. If you’re planning a getaway trip with the girls, Charleston should definitely be on the list.
Tale as old as time. Girl meets boy. Boy takes the girl to Olive Garden. They live happily ever after…Kidding! Well, sorta. The full story is wayyy cuter if I do say so myself. I wanted to grab SEO by adding in what to wear apple picking to the same post? In hindsight, I should’ve just made it two different blogs. Oh, well! We live and learn.
A top post featuring deep socio-cultural topics? We LOVE to see it! Though this isn’t the first time. In the past, I’ve written about my favorite black bloggers and the lack of diversity in brand campaigns. I shared my hair journey with you guys and was very thankful for all of the kind comments. There’s something about hair that makes people feel so vulnerable so sharing about it wasn’t easy. The discussion surrounding black hair in America will probably go until the end of time, but I’m thankful that I have the platform to help educate!
With views as gorgeous as the pitons in St. Lucia, I can see why this post is at the top! In addition to a full hotel review, I also shared an itinerary from our Honeymoon. If you’re planning a trip to the island or adding to your bucket list, you’ll definitely want to pin that for later!
Did you have a favorite post from the year that didn’t make the list? I’d love to know! As always, feel free to email, DM, or comment below if you have questions. Thanks for reading and Happy New Year!
