St. Lucia Honeymoon- Things to Do

TRAVEL OUTFIT DETAILS:

Para Para Paradiseee

Our experience in St. Lucia was incredible! We partnered with Carey Carpenter from Epperly Travel in order to plan a personalized honeymoon itinerary that best fit our needs. Will and I both knew we’re more of the relaxation type, so we ditched the strenuous hikes for spa days and poolside chats.

We got married on a Sunday and left the next morning from the Atlanta airport. It’s only about a 4.5-hour flight directly to Soufriere and a 40-minute drive to Sugar Beach. Ease of travel was important to us because that meant we could get straight into honeymoon mode as soon as possible!

Where We Stayed: Sugar Beach Viceroy

Head to this blog post for my full hotel review. I touch it a little bit more on the specifics for our choice in the hotel in my previous blog post, but Sugar Beach couldn’t have been a better choice for us. With our resort, you were close to the water and had the experience of jungle views.

What to Do:

Sunset Cruise

Again, we kept it super casual in our honeymoon activities. I debated doing a small hike to get better views of the pitons. You know, #forthegram. But ultimately decided I’d rather sweat in a sauna versus a stressful hike! On our first night on the island, we opted for a sunset cruise which was the best introduction to st. Lucia. There were only about 15 people total on the boat and the trip included heavy hors d’oeuvre and drinks!

The best part had to be the dolphins swimming along with you in the bay. And I’m not talking just a couple of fins here and there. I swear I turned into a little girl and squealed every time they were near the boat- which I’m sure after the 10th time my fellow passengers were very happy about.

Volcano and Sulfur Baths

With a sun-filled day at the beach on Tuesday, we planned for a small island tour on Wednesday. We booked with this company and the tour picked us up right from our resort. Starting at 9 AM, we started off by visiting the island’s volcano.  You could smell the sulfur and see the steam rise from the ground! Afterward, we trekked down the hill to the mud baths. It was so much fun to play around and paint things on each other. Once the mud hardens, you let it soak off of you in the natural spring. I’ve never been in a sulfur bath, so it was fun to cross that off my list and emerge with noticeably softer skin! I’m definitely jealous of the locals who shared they go at least once a week.

Botanical Gardens

After drying off from the sulfur baths, we take a small ride to the national preserve on the island. St. Lucia’s botanical garden has all of the flora native to the area as well as the histories of the animals and plants introduced to their culture. The hike was never too intense but still allowed you the chance to visit waterfalls for a quick plunge. The tour also included lunch at an elevated spot situated between the pitons. *If you end up booking this particular one, keep in mind the menu is pre-selected and limited, but still filling!* Every stop was filled with incredible views of the Caribbean landscape and allowed us to see more of the local parts of St. Lucia.

Spa Day

Thursday we planned for a couple of hours at the spa- complete with body scrubs and massages. I’m a bit of a spa geek and like to try out a service at each resort I visit. While it wasn’t the best massage of my life I have traveled to, it definitely got a 10 for ambiance. Plus, I can’t think of a more relaxing start to marriage than that! Friday we split time between our private plunge pool and the beach before preparing for our trip back home.

The island of St. Lucia is full of loved-up couples and our resort was just the peaceful haven we needed. I know Sugar beach and the rest of the resorts are only getting more popular amongst honeymooners, so I’d love to know if you consider it in the future for your next romantic getaway!
