In true Leo fashion, I spent my birthday on the beach with a drink in my hand. Honestly, is there any other way to spend the most important day of the year? And while I loved visiting Costa Rica during the “off season” (read: economical) it does have its pros and cons! The rainy season is no joke, but as long as you’re prepared you can make the most of it. I’m sharing everything you need to do, pack and eat for when you do finally make it to Pura Vida!
For starters, is there anything more appropriate than tropical prints when heading to a tropical island? I don’t think so. This dress by Farm Rio is absolutely stunning and was the PERFECT outfit for my first night in Costa Rica!
These Shoes Are Made For Walking:
No, but really. It’s so important to bring shoes you can walk a lot in. Spending time in Costa Rica can look like a wet hike through the rainforest, a walk through sand, or just lounging around the resort! That being said, sandals that are comfortable and designed with a back are a must-have in your suitcase.
When It Rains It Pours:
If I say it once, I’ll say it a million times. Pack. Your. Rain. Gear. Especially if you will be traveling during the summer months (aka smack dab in the middle of the rainy season), so make sure you are prepared! I mean, you’ll quite literally be in the middle of a rainforest for at least one activity, so it makes sense. Packing a rain jacket, umbrella, poncho, and most definitely a waterproof phone case will be your saving grace.
The Miscellaneous Must-Haves:
The bugs, heat, and boat rocking are REAL! Do not forget to pack some bug spray, a portable fan, and whatever you need to keep everything inside of you if you plan on going deep sea fishing (or just on a boat in general)! This portable fan has been a travel must-have of mine for a long time. It currently has over 12k reviews with almost 5 stars and comes in several colors! If you’re going somewhere warm, definitely be sure to grab it.
