(don’t forget to pin this for later!)
Right after I left New York City July 31st, I immediately booked my flight to come back for fashion week! It’s truly like a second home to me now and I was counting down the days in anticipation until I got to back. Thankfully, I was able to split the time between a friend’s apartment in Astoria and the beautiful YOTEL in Manhattan whenever I needed to escape the madness.
This was my first time attending fashion week in September (the Spring/Summer lines) and had a completely different experience from my time in February. Booking hotels and getting invites to shows are a lot harder when the weather is prettier in the city. Also, September is simply the month of fashion. It’s the most important issue of Vogue for a reason. New York’s fashion week kicks off a long string of international fashion events across the globe and everyone from celebs to style bloggers is vying for a front-row seat. As a relatively smaller blogger, I felt so blessed that I was able to go this season!
My first full day in the city included all 5 of my runway shows! Can you feel my exhaustion through the screen? The first one I saw was Lu Yang by Yang Lu. Gorgeous materials, structure, and bold colors were present on every model on the runway. The downside is that I missed 50% of the show! If you’ve been to fashion week before, you know that the majority of the shows typically start 10-15 minutes later than they intend to. Of course, this is great news for people fashionably late like me, but this one show decided to begin precisely on time (of course, when I’m stuck in traffic). Regardless, I loved his work and I’ll definitely be keeping up with the designer!
I ended the day with a trek to Brooklyn for what ended up being my favorite part of the trip, hands down. I got a last-minute ticket to 29 Rooms from a friend and had the best time! 29 Rooms is an annual event put on by Refinery 29 that showcases a mix of social justice and artwork. Each room is a different theme and ultimately creates a funhouse for adults. The brightly colored spaces make it a blogger’s dream and I got to meet Victoria Justice?! I’m proud of myself for not freaking out, but I could’ve died when I saw she was there!
I used my last full day in the city to shoot with my fave photographer, meet with blogger babes for brunch, and hang out with old friends! I also had to sneak in some accounting homework because the life of an MBA student never stops! It was nice to see the reason I’m working so hard in school is so that I can live in a city like New York that gives people so many opportunities.
I don’t regret my experience at all, but I’ll make sure to be a bit more prepared in the future. I packed outfits that reflected summer styles because of the weather, but I’d suggest blending them with fall fashions to look as chic as possible. I’d also advise teaming up with a group of bloggers in similar niches and follower sizes to take photos with, attend shows, and hang out when you have free time (thanks, Hannah and Kelsey)! I think New York Fashion Week is something that every style blogger should experience once in their life, but it’s important that you know what you’re up against. Don’t let the comparison game get in the way of you appreciating the experience. I was definitely guilty of that this trip and it stopped me from fully enjoying my time in New York! It was also a reminder of how exhausted I was at the end of fashion week in February. Make sure to rest up until it’s time to travel because you will not sleep a wink until your trip is over!
Everything is a learning experience! I’ll definitely be back next year and I’ll be ready to take on the beautiful, phenomena that is fashion week once again.
I’ll be sharing how YOU can go to fashion week and my hotel reviews, so check back later for updates!

I love what you wore on Day 2. I think I might have to stay at Yotel next time. Might go back to NYFW in February. If you go, too, then I’d definitely love to meet up!
Yes, I would love to actually meet you! Haha. Let me know if you’re going!
So glad you enjoyed fashion week! I absolutely love going and you’re so right that it’s always harder to get into shows in September in comparison to February.
