We’ve been inside for almost a year now. Gosh, can you believe it? Will and I haven’t sat inside of a restaurant since MARCH 2020. After the baking and TikTok era of early quarantine, we slowly started to run out of date night ideas at home. During the winter months, it can get even harder to plan something romantic when it’s so cold!

Don’t get me wrong. I love a good Netflix marathon as much as the next girl, but it’s nice to switch it up sometimes! I’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite ideas for date night at home. Of course, they’re socially distant and perfect for Valentine’s Day! This lovely set up is courtesy of The Gathering Picnic Company right here in Charlotte. I worked with them to create something special for Will’s birthday and we LOVED it! If you’ve been looking for some indoor fun, I hope this gives you inspiration.

Ideas for Date Night at Home

Enjoy Wine Tasting and New Cocktail Recipes

After years of drinking the same 3 bottles of wine, I’ve recently pushed myself to try more! You can sign up for a variety of virtual wine tasting classes for FREE. Will and I also like to try our hand at making new cocktail recipes for each other. I’d suggest starting by supporting a local restaurant or bar offering cocktail kits to-go!

DIY Drive-In Movie Theater

Yes, it’s just like your regular movie night but with a little *spice*. Opt for stove-top popcorn (or better yet this cute popcorn maker), choose your favorite movie snacks, and create the perfect in-home theater! You can also grab a projector and screen for your patio when it gets a bit warmer outside.

Battle It Out with Game Night

overview of snacks and games for date night at home

When you have two competitive people in a relationship game night is a must! It’s fun to re-live some of our favorites from childhood. A few of our go-to’s:

Board Games:

Monopoly, Settlers of Catan, Scrabble, Jenga, etc.

Card Games:

Speed, War, Spoons, etc.

Grab a Polaroid For a Photoshoot

My ANTM rewatch over the summer really prepared me for this. Pick out an outfit for your spouse, design your own backdrop, and click away! It’ll be fun to surprise each other with the style choices and the photos will make a cute keepsake for the scrapbook.

Recreate The Target TikTok Trend and Test How Well You Know Each Other

It’s simple! Give each other a budget (let’s say $25-50) and head into your closest supermarket. Then you have to buy each of the items below with your partner in mind. Once you’re both at home, share each item on the count of 3 and see if they were right! You can enjoy the snacks, drinks, and items for the rest of the day.

Have a Themed Dinner Party

If you’re cooking Italian food buy only Italian wines, listen to Italian music and watch a movie set in Italy! Of course, my vote is When in Rome with Mary Kate and Ashley. For Valentine’s Day, you can also create your own themed charcuterie board as I did in this blog post. Cooking at home has always been something we enjoyed doing together. Will is a pretty good chef and we like to try our hand at different cuisines from time to time. But this is something that would definitely be a new spin on a classic date night!

Bring The Campsite Indoors

Set up a tent in the living room or grab some bed sheets and create a fort! Your 10-year-old self would be so proud. Add in smores, fondue, and twinkling fairy to mimic a night sky. It’s all the perks of camping without the bugs and creepy noises. I think this type of “wildlife” is more my style.

Pamper Each Other with Spa Time

What better way to grow closer to each other than with a night of relaxation? Massages, masks, or a nice relaxing bath are just a few ways to unwind. Find the most ambient spa music on Spotify, dim the lights, and have a tranquil date night at home.

Spend a Night at the (Virtual) Museum

I know I can’t be the only one who has dreamed about having the entire museum to myself for a day. I blame Ben Stiller. Well, now you can! Even before COVID times, some of the top museums in the country developed AR/VR technology to make their experiences more accessible. Now, The Smithsonian, Guggenheim, and The Louvre are just a click away.

Take a Trip To Your Dream Destination

Similar to museums, you can travel the world via virtual tours! You could revisit your honeymoon destination, travel to that bucket list destination you had on the calendar for 2020, or just pick randomly. It may not be as good as the real thing, but still a fun experience together!

Create Your Own Paint and Sip Studio

*Insert Titanic line here* Just kidding! You can definitely opt for something a bit more family-friendly. Open up a nice bottle of wine and choose an easy art project to recreate! You can send it to friends and family or post it on your Instagram stories later and ask people to vote for which one is the best.

Turn Your Living Room Into Club Karaoke

Become a pop star for the night and take turns performing your favorite karaoke songs. Just like those college glory days you try to forget, there’s nothing like a karaoke competition after a few drinks. Now you can sing without the judgment of strangers and the multiple tragic attempts of Don’t Stop Believing. Lights. Camera. Action.

Oh my gosh, I totally forgot about speed! I was obsessed with that card game as a teenager and we might have to break out the deck of cards tonight!

I really love the target gift idea! Definitely trying that one out!
