What Works Best For My Hair Type During the Winter

If you’ve been following me on the ‘gram, then you know how much I LOVE to switch up my hairstyles. Until 2020, I wore sew-ins on my natural hair as a protective style. In reality, it was mostly because I didn’t know what I was doing when it came to hair care! I’m so excited to be partnering with Pantene today to share what works best for my hair in the winter!

I’m not sure what led to such miseducation of my hair as a child. My parents were Nigerian immigrants and had family members to help out at home when it came to beauty regiments. When they moved to the states, they were surrounded by white communities that struggled to provide them with the tools to help us take care of our hair. With the long school hours and work, I’m sure they didn’t really have the time to find out who was the best black stylist in the pre-Google era.

Add in societal pressures to cover our natural hair and straighten our beautiful curls, It has taken years for me to have the confidence that I do now.  Thanks to the Natural Hair movement online and the lovely hair creators on YouTube I found what products work the best for me.

My Curl Pattern: Type 4C Kinky Curls Hair

My curl type is 4C- the kinkiest coils of the bunch. No shock to me there. However, that’s not the most important thing to note when it comes to hair care! The Pantene Nutrient Blends Collection has options for everyone available if you’re looking for what works best for you!

My Hair LOVES hydration

Do you find that you need more hydrating hair care products? Or are you looking for something that leaves your hair soft and silky in the harsh winter weather? I have high porosity hair so that means that I need more products to help hydrate and nourish my scalp and hair follicles. I’ve also learned over time that sometimes less is more! Our hair can only take so much added oil, leave-in conditioner, and hair creams. It takes a good clarifying shampoo to remove all of the excess product that can build up over time.

4C Winter Hair Care Routine

Winter weather means you have to watch out for dry skin. I like to wash my hair with shampoo or conditioner once a week to avoid drying out my scalp. At the end of the month, I’ll take down my hairstyle and do a nice, deep clean with a clarifying shampoo just like the Pantene Nutrient Blends Pure Clean & Clarify Silicone and Fragrance-Free Shampoo. Of course, it’s easier to thoroughly cleanse your scalp when you have more open styles like passion twists or knotless box braids.

In comparison to sew-ins, I found it’s a lot easier to manage when I have direct access to my scalp (like wigs, half-extensions, etc.) It’s one of the reasons why I absolutely love my Kinky-Curly clip-ins! In addition to the advantages of not needing to manipulate my hair every day, I also don’t have to worry that I won’t be able to remove the style buildup when the time comes.

With the Pantene Pure, Clean & Clarify Silicone, and Fragrance-Free shampoo and conditioner, I can leave my wash days feeling fresh! The extra B vitamins and the silicone-free formula let me confidently rock whichever hairstyle I choose without the fear of damaging it in the long run. I’m so thankful these products have helped me nourish my beautiful curls! With a fragrance-free formula, it removes build-up without the extra additives, super helpful for those with sensitive skin types! You can find where to buy your own Pantene Nutrient Blends Collection products at Walmart here.

Have you tried the Pantene Nutrient Blends Collection yet? I’ve already decided it’s time for me to add another style to the rotation and can’t wait to use this on it! Any guesses what I’ll do next?
