Another year has gone by here at GoodTomiCha.com. It’s crazy to think I’ve been rambling on this little website of mine for 6 years now! What started as just an emotional outlet in college has grown into such a fulfilling career. Whether it’s talking about my latest skincare finds, sharing tips for success as a blogger, or discussing more serious topics- I’m so thankful for you!
In a recent Instagram post, I shared why I loved seeing my top posts of the year. Not only does it give me a fun trip down memory lane, but it allows me a chance to prep better content for 2022. If you have a favorite post from the year that isn’t listed below, please let me know in the comments! I’m also rounding up the bestsellers AND my favorite product finds from 2021. This post will be a long one, so let’s get to it!
This look was by far my most-shopped outfit of 2021! And it was definitely a favorite of mine, too!
A classic pair of jeans is a must-have. I have a few go-to brands for denim and Abercrombie is always a top choice. They’re size-inclusive and so comfortable, I lounge around the house in them! This style specifically is the light ripped was high-waisted mom jeans. But I would buy them in every wash if I could.
Like many black women before me, I need to be moisturized 24/7. When I say I keep it on me, I mean at least 2-3 options for hand lotion. But I started to look into other options to work into my nighttime routine and stumbled upon this body oil by Osea. It smells amazing while locking in moisture for the skin, which is definitely needed for winter! An added bonus I wasn’t even prepared for was that it helped reduce the stretchmarks on my butt! I’ve become accustomed to my ‘tiger stripes’ so finding a product to remove them was never top of mind. If it was appropriate to take a photo of my bare butt and post it to this website, I would show you proof, but alas. Regardless, I can’t say enough good things about the Osea body oil and will definitely be purchasing all 2022.
Putting together my cloffice has been a labor of love, but I’ve finally come around to the finishing touches! One of my favorite additions has to be these prints I grabbed from Etsy. I originally found the artists (Stormy Nesbit and MKoby) when I was putting together a list of Black businesses in 2020. I immediately fell in love with their style and bookmarked the page for the perfect moment. Add in a simple, gold frame and it really pops on my vanity!
I mean, who doesn’t love a good matching set, right? Over the summer I went kind of crazy and bought about 5-6 different combos of this one style. They’re comfortable and *just* cute enough to make me excited for the gym. Plus, they’re all under $20?! Can’t get any better.
Not necessarily a purchase, but we finally unboxed our Nespresso machine from our wedding. And WOW. I’d been missing out on how easy it is to recreate my own PSL at home with their milk frother, too! You can see how I styled my at-home coffee bar, here!
Speaking of bar carts, my beverage area was in need of an upgrade. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good creative bar cart situation, but I didn’t like how everything was just on display. This cabinet from CB2 is a bit on the pricier side but elegantly pulls our living room transitional aesthetic together.
For a brief moment in 2021, I got to fulfill a few travel wishes. And I quickly realized it was time to find a nice travel tote. I’ve used a backpack for years with multiple compartments but found it wasn’t the best for easy, airport access. While researching what to buy for my first designer bag, I came across the traveler tote by Marc Jacobs. It fits my laptop, a couple of books, a water bottle, all my sanitizers and wipes, and the rest of the normal purse items. I even use it for days when I work out of a coffee shop! It can be considered a splurge but I really get so much use out of it. It’s absolutely a favorite purchase of the year.
People who have multiple sclerosis often struggle with temperature regulation in their bodies. So you can imagine what it’s like to get comfortable sleeping. I could’ve said it’s a tie between my fan I keep on high 365 days a year by my bedside, but I also need to shout out my pillow. I purchased a few after my recent MS flare-up in the fall and they’re honestly a godsend. The cooling effects feel sooo good after a long day and the memory foam prevents me from tossing and turning! I just add a nice, silk pillowcase for the perfect sleep setup.
I’m sure by now you’re just wondering when I’ll stop raving about this eye cream. But it won’t be anytime soon! When I first partnered with Origins in the spring I shared how I didn’t think eye creams worked until I used this one. Now, keep in mind I have very average dark circles and puffiness under my eyes when I don’t get a night of good sleep, so it’s not doing too much heavy lifting. However, I am pretty satisfied with the results. If you’ve been on the hunt, I suggest adding this one to your skincare routine.
Do I have these heels in every color? Yes. Do I regret anything? Not in the slightest. I love how they can dress up any outfit!
While I didn’t enjoy every book I read this year, it wasn’t difficult to put them on my favorites. I’m so proud of hitting my goal of 24 books and then clearing over 52 books once I updated! It took a bit of time to get back into the habit of reading but it has really become one of my favorite hobbies now. And it’s the perfect way to end my day.
